Création of a new barrel, the " MARCEL CADET "
  Sommaire

Who is Marcel Cadet?

In 1931, Marcel Jaeglé is 13 years old when he begins to work at the cooperage Dargaud. This new apprentice is then nicknamed "le Cadet", meaning the Younger Child, because of his young age.
Some years later, in 1968, thanks to his dedication within the company, "le Cadet" receives a beautiful reward: the cooperage Dargaud becomes Dargaud and Jaeglé.
In 2001, Jean-Marcel Jaeglé creates the barrel "Marcel Cadet", in honor of his father, "le Cadet", and of all that he carried out for the company.

The barrel Marcel Cadet is very special. From oak trees of the most prestigious forests, woods are selected, stacked and dried during 18 months. After that, the process is repeated: staves damaged by the sun and the bad weather are eliminated, the others are re-stacked in a way that every piece of oak benefits from the same exposition in the sun and in the rain. Next, the oak joins again the Dargaud and Jaeglé's open-air wood yard for a period of 18 months. From then, after these 3 years of drying outdoors, the wood is ready for the manufacture of "Marcel Cadet". The successive controls during the fabrication are made with rigour and method for the production of a very high range barrel.
